I first came across Simon Squibb on social media, where he is well known for approaching people in the street and asking, “What’s your dream?” He then offers guidance on how to achieve it. Some of the things he says and does really inspired me, and I wanted to read his book to see if I could take away anything useful for myself.
The book is structured almost like a step-by-step guide to starting your own business. It combines practical advice with stories from Simon’s own journey, highlighting both his successes and mistakes, and offering tips on how not to repeat them.
I found it engaging and thought-provoking, although at times it felt a little pushy. I understand that Simon is trying to create a sense of urgency and encourage readers to step out of their comfort zone and take the leap into their own ventures.
Some of his recommendations were controversial, and I didn’t always agree with his opinions. However, he acknowledges in the book that if everyone had the same viewpoint, it wouldn’t be a community, it would be a cult, which I appreciated.
Overall, I found the book inspiring and it motivated me to think seriously about starting my own business. That said, I would take certain elements with a pinch of salt. Everyone’s journey is different, and just because your path doesn’t look exactly like the one described here, that’s perfectly okay.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a dream or entrepreneurial ambition. I would also encourage checking out Simon Squibb’s social media, where his approach and enthusiasm really bring the concepts in the book to life.
